Brenda Hartill is an innovative British painter and printmaker based in East Sussex. Born in London, England, Brenda immigrated to New Zealand with her parents in the late 1950s and was educated there. She returned to London in the late 1960s to study Theatrical Design, after which she worked as a freelance designer in UK theatre. In the early eighties, Brenda turned towards printmaking and has been successfully publishing her own prints since. Brenda is best known for her heavily embossed limited edition etchings and collagraphs based on natural landscape forms, which range from finely drawn figurative etchings to bold textured abstract collagraphs.
